Hey, my name is Seth Swartz, i am a Russian Soldier and i am fighting Russia. My nation became involved in WWI because Serbia, and ally of Russia, was attacked and accused of assassination by Austria-Hungary.
We entered the war after Austria declared war against Serbia, because Russia had made itself the guardian of all Slavic and/or Eastern Orthodox peoples, mainly the South-Slavs in the Balkans who had for centuries been under Muslim-Ottoman domination.
2. Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria- Hungary.
On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were shot dead by members of the Black Hand. They were riding in a opened topped car and they were both shot.The political objective of the assassination was to break Austria-Hungary's south-Slav provinces off so they could be combined into a Greater Serbia or a Yugoslavia. The assassins' motives were consistent with the movement that later became known as Young Bosnia. Serbian military officers stood behind the attack. The bombing and murders on June 28 led to the outbreak of World War l a month later.
Week 2, Dec. 18
1. Battle plan for my nation, weapons and tactics.
We had no plans for war with Germany; we were mobilizing against Austria and Austria alone. We was thrown into a war that we were not prepared for. An excess of corruption and a lack of equipment, transportation, and training left my troops poised for defeat at Tannenberg and almost everywhere else. If my army and i had had some training, we probably would have defeated Germany with no problem. Some of the weapons i used were the rifle and some other simple weapons. Since we were not prepared we did not have the right weapons and equipment that we needed to defeat them.
Exit of Russia, Entry of the U.S.A
When Russia exited the war, it helped us because we had a revolution going on. The United States did not matter to us.
Week 3, Christmas Break
On Christmas day, my Comrades and i were all sitting near the nice, warm fire. We were enjoying a big breakfast that the Germans and Russians had both made together. Since it was Christmas Day, the Germans thought it would be a good idea for us to stop the violence for a day and enjoy the day. The leaders on both sides both thought this was a terrible idea because they did not want anyone to become friends. But they did it anyway and everyone had a good day. The fighting will start back up the next day.
Week 4, Treaty of Versailles
When the Treaty of Versailles was going on, i was very happy because this was paying for the war debts. Because of this, my nation didn't have to pay for any of the war debts.
